LUDHIANA: All the time Rajguru Nagar-resident Dr Surjit Dhaliwal spent on looking through mehndi designs was worth its while as members of the Niharika Ladies Club admired it.
"I searched a lot for what seemed the best and most different design and all the club members loved it,'' said Surjit.
She won the best mehndi prize at the club's Karva Chauth celebration held at a hotel on Ferozepur Road.
Meenakshi Jain of BRS Nagar shone among the heavily decked women and drew many compliments. Her outfit also impressed the judges and she was awarded the 'most well-dressed lady' award.
Though Uma Chopra, a resident of SBS Nagar, picked simple bangles for the festival this time, their elegance won her the best bangles award. Surprised, she said, "The bangles are simple but unique so it caught the judges' eyes.''
The club also crowned Reema Neuita of Maya Nagar and Navraj Gill of BRS Nagar as 'Karva queen' in the below-40 and above 40 categories respectively.
